| Is rather than tweak your suspension, run an obscenely tall slick, run a traction control box. Just run longer gears. Its an easier fix to utilize the power better IMO. And I am talking about high power cars. Some cars need all the help they can get because they do not put out that much power, this is where short gears would come in handy. It makes the car seem faster than it really is. But if you already HAVE the power, IMO you can utilize it better with the longer gears. Summarizing what I have said: Shorter ring gear=More traction problems, less time in boost Shorter gears via the 350z 6 speed=More traction problems, less time in boost, more loss of boost with the extra gear This is all VS a taller gear setup with tires, suspension and power levels remaining CONSTANT/unchanging/equal. But on the other hand if you desire to run a 28" full slick, then yes, so that you do not bog so bad off the line, shorter gears are somewhat beneficial. But this is ONLY for launching/low range. You get up to a certain speed and the tires are not pressure rated for that speed and the gear runs out making any car with longer gears being able to pass you.
